My Rules of Design and Life
When I sat down to ponder what I wanted my website to be called, all of the really cool names were taken. It’s a good thing because when I began to really evaluate what I had to offer people, I realized that what separates me from the crowd of other DIYers, designers and bloggers is really only me. There are TONS of people online that are far more creative, stylish and resourceful than I. I’m mature enough to admit that. But I am different. I apply my own sense of style, teaching ability and personal principles to every project.
Many blogs and websites can show you how to design your home and make beautiful things. I want to show you how I do it and empower you to do it your way. I’m giving you a glimpse inside my head and my heart to learn the principles that translate to results. My Design Rules is clearly a play on words. I have rules and yes my design skills are great. But, my aim is to make you understand that your design is good too–if you can learn some basics and add YOUR heart in it.
I have developed a set of core values and rules that govern my life and design philosophy. I didn’t sit down one day and decide I would live by these rules, they just evolved over time. While I do have a personal vision statement I live by to guide me, these have sort of been my benchmarks of all areas of life for me.
